If you sell wholesale, you probably don’t want the whole internet to see your trade prices. WooCommerce doesn’t offer a built-in way to hide prices from guests, but there are three common approaches — each suited to a different kind of store.
Option 1: Login to view price
Guests can browse your products, but instead of a price and an Add to cart button they see a custom message and a login link. This is ideal when you want your catalog to be discoverable in search but keep pricing for approved buyers.
In Wholesale Engine, turn on Login to view price under Settings → Price and write the message guests will see.
Option 2: Catalog mode
Catalog mode makes products non-purchasable across the store. It works well for brands that take orders offline or want a showroom-style site.
Option 3: A private store
A private store redirects logged-out visitors away from the shop, with a URL whitelist for pages that should stay public (like your registration page). Combined with the B2B (Wholesale only) store mode, this turns WooCommerce into a closed wholesale portal.
Fine-tuning visibility
- Hide stock completely, or only hide the quantity, from B2C customers
- Hide all products from guests and/or B2C users
- Hide targeted products entirely from a chosen audience with product access control
- Add custom price suffixes such as “excl. VAT”
Which one should you choose?
If you want SEO traffic and leads, start with login to view price. If you don’t sell online at all, use catalog mode. If your store is wholesale-only, go private. All three are part of the free plugin — see the price visibility features.
