Tiered pricing — “buy more, save more” — encourages customers to increase their order size. For wholesale stores it is often the single most effective pricing lever.
What tiered pricing looks like
Instead of one price per product, you define price breaks by quantity. The more units a customer buys, the lower the unit price. Showing those tiers clearly on the product page helps buyers decide how much to order.
Setting up quantity rules
In Wholesale Engine, create a quantity-based rule under Pricing Rules. Target it at specific products, categories or wholesale roles — for example, bulk discounts only for wholesale customers. Then enable the tiered pricing table so customers see the breaks on the product page.
Go further with cart-level rewards
- Cart discounts based on subtotal, quantity or weight
- Buy X Get Y rewards
- Surcharges / extra fees where you need them
- Minimum and maximum order quantities, enforced in the cart and at checkout
Avoiding double discounts
When several rules can apply at once — a role discount, a sale price and a quantity tier — it is easy to end up discounting twice. Wholesale Engine calculates prices once per request from a single source of truth, so wholesale, sale and tiered pricing never double-discount. You also choose whether discounts start from the regular or the sale price.
Start with two or three simple tiers. You can always add more once you see how customers respond.
